Gigya Socialize

From $1

Publishers_Header.jpg

Gigya Socialize is a service that enables users to authenticate in your site using their Facebook, MySpace, OpenID and other services. Socialize also enables users to connect with their friends on Facebook, MySpace, Twitter and other social networks and interact with them from your site.

Through Socialize, sites can publish actions into the Facebook Newsfeed and send Notifications to friends. Sites will be able to publish actions via the communication systems employed by other social networks once those networks enable that functionality. In addition, the social graph may be incorporated into a site to enhance the user experience. For example, a user’s Facebook friends can be displayed on your site as part of a newsfeed, where that newsfeed displays the actions taken on your site by each user’s friends. The newsfeed will display whichever specific action types you designate. Gigya Socialize is designed to protect users' privacy while giving site owners all the information and control they need to make their sites social.

Commonly used concepts of Gigya Socialize implementation include:

  • Integrating Socialize to boost the number of users who signup to your site
  • Retrieving the user’s social graph information
  • Getting extensive user information
  • Sending Notifications and Newsfeed items to the user’s profile on social networks
  • Inviting friends, through social networks and email, to visit a site or explore content

How does it work?

Socialize taps into the API enabled by Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, Yahoo, openID (supporting Gmail, AOL and WordPress), as well as other soon-to-be-opened external APIs.
The product provides developers a unified layer of services that are common in the different destinations and taps into (via socializes backend) external applications and official API released by those networks.

The system was designed with ease of integration in mind, so we have also created a set of pre-built components that could help to quickly implement common end user scenarios. Those components communicate with Socialize's backend to achieve the same functionality that could be achieved by using direct API calls.

Why use Socialize?

"Working with Gigya was an obvious choice for us given the ease of use and quick turnaround. The APIs are simple to use and make the implementation of Facebook connect, MySpace ID, Twitter, Yahoo and OpenID fast and efficient. Not having to deal with several APIs means that a lot of social networking integration can be achieved efficiently. This allowed our development team to focus on other key issues while the Gigya Socialize APIs took care of all aspects of authentication and pulling in user's social graph."
