Twitter - Opening an External Application

This page provides a step-by-step guide, walking you through the process of opening an external application in Yahoo, and configuring Yahoo's application keys in Gigya's website (as part of the Socialize Setup process).

 

Phase 1 - Opening an External Application in Twitter

  1. Log into your Twitter account and click on the following URL: http://twitter.com/oauth_clients
  2. Click on 'Register a new application'.
  3. Fill in the form (all fields, except "Application Icon" are obligatory):
    1. Application Name
    2. Description
    3. Application Website (Your application's home page, the page where users can go to download or use it)
    4. Organization
    5. Website
    6. In the 'Application Type', make sure the 'Browser' radio button is checked.
    7. Use the following Callback URL:
    8. Optional: If you are planning on configuring domain alias (CNAME), please replace 'socialize.gigya.com' with your alias sub domain (CNAME value). i.e.
    9. In "Default Access type" check the 'Read & Write' radio button.
    10. Check "Yes, user Twitter for login".
  4. Press the 'Save' button.

  5. Copy the 'Consumer key' and 'Consumer secret'.

 

Phase 2 - Configuring Twitter's Application Keys in Gigya's Website

  1. Go to http://www.gigya.com/ and log in.
  2. Click on the "Get Gigya Socialize" tab and then hit the 'Edit' link on the right hand side of the page.
    Alternately, If you are already logged in, you may go directly to the Site Setup page.

  3. Press the "Edit" button that corresponds to the domain you wish to configure. You will be redirected to the "Configure Site Settings" page.

  4. Paste your keys (The "Consumer key' and the 'Consumer secret' from the end of Phase 1) in the corresponding places:

  5. Click the "Save Settings" button (which is located at the lower right-hand corner of the page).

 

That's it, Twitters configuration is complete!  Please note that it might take up to 10 minutes for our system to become synchronized with Twitter.
