Yahoo - Opening an External Application

This page provides a step-by-step guide, walking you through the process of opening an external application in Yahoo, and configuring Yahoo's application keys in Gigya's website (as part of the Socialize Setup process).


Phase 1 - Opening an External Application in Yahoo:

  1. Go to http://developer.yahoo.com/
  2. Click on 'My Projects'.

  3. Click on the 'New Project' button.

  4. In the pop-up window that opened, please choose 'Contacts, MyBlogLog, Social Directory, Status, Updates, Wretch' as shown in the example below, and hit 'Continue'.

    In the "Security & Privecy" screen (see screen shot below):
  5. Insert your application name.
  6. Set "Kind of application" field to "Web Based".
  7. Enter a short description (up to 250 characters).
  8. Paste the following URL in the "Application URL" field:
  9. Note: In the u parameter, please insert the URL that users will be redirected to when clicking a Yahoo newsfeed icon. For example: .
    Optional: If you are planning on configuring domain alias (CNAME), please replace 'socialize.gigya.com' with your alias sub domain (CNAME value). For example:  
  10. In the Favicon URL, please paste your 16x16px icon URL. For example: .
  11. Paste the following URL in the "Application domain" filed:

  13. In Access scopes, please choose 'This app requires access to private user data' and select the following options:
    • Delicious - No Access needed
    • Yahoo! Mail - No Access needed
    • MyBlogLog – No Access needed
    • Meme - No Access needed
    • Yahoo! Contacts – Read
    • Yahoo! Profiles – Read (Shared)
    • Yahoo! Status – Read\Write
    • Yahoo! Updates - Read\Write
    • Knowledge Plus - No Access Needed
    • Wretch - No Access needed
       
  14. Check the terms of use box.

  15. Hit 'Get API Key'.
     
  16. If this is your first application, the following screen would appear. Please click on 'Verify Domain'.
    Please note: This screen will only appear once.

  17. Copy the "API Key" the, "Shared Secret" and the "Application ID".
    Please note: make sure you copy the whole API key.
     

Phase 2 - Configuring Yahoo's Application Keys in Gigya's Website

 

 

  1. Go to http://www.gigya.com/ and log in.
  2. Click on the "Get Gigya Socialize" tab and then hit the 'Edit' link on the right hand side of the page. Alternately, If you are already logged in, please click on the following URL, which will lead you directly to the Site Setup page: https://www.gigya.com/site/partners/...tate=SiteSetup

  3. Press the "Edit" button that corresponds to the domain you wish to configure. You will be redirected to the "Configure Site Settings" page.

  4. Paste your keys (The "API Key" the "Shared Secret" and the "Application ID" from the end of Phase 1) in the corresponding places:

  5. Click the "Save Settings" button (which is located at the lower right-hand corner of the page).

 

 

That's it, Yahoo configuration is complete! Please note that it might take up to 10 minutes for our system to become synchronized with Yahoo.
